History

StampSource was founded in Charlotte, NC in 1949 as Carolina Tool and Die. In 1993, Larry Taggart and his son Stephen bought the company. Larry had spent 24 years in corporate America, many with P&G, and had moved many times. He decided he did not want to move anymore and wanted to own his own business. He and his wife traveled extensively until they found Charlotte, and decided they wanted to live there. They purchased their Charlotte home contingent on buying the business!

Stephen worked briefly at Black & Decker out of college and then joined his father in the business.

In 1997 the company changed its name to StampSource to better describe their role as a production metal stamping house, serving North Carolina metal stamping customers, as well as metal stamping customers in South Carolina and the Southeast.  In 2004 they moved from their original location to a 95,000 square foot facility. They also added a fabrication department to offer, stamping, fabricating, and tool and die solutions. PPI purchased the company in 2013. In the two decades the Taggarts owned the business they experienced ten-fold growth.

Today, StampSource is owned by Steve Hollis, Chairman and Executive Vice President for Business Development, and Luke Faulstick, President and CEO. They also own Power Partners, Inc., a leading producer of overhead distribution transformers and adsorption chillers, Change Partners, a consulting firm specializing in work culture in manufacturing companies, and Gap Partners, a metal fabrication and stamping company. The parent company under which all of the businesses operate is called PPI.
