PPI Embraces Relay For Life To Help Cure Cancer

Relay for Life is the American Cancer Society’s signature activity and is the largest community fundraiser in the world. Each year, Power Partners and Gap Partners employees come together to form Relay for Life teams to support finding a cure for cancer. Both companies get quite creative in the ways they raise money.

ppi-relay-1In 2015 Gap Partners was the number one fundraiser for Relay for Life Rabun County, raising more than $3000. They achieved this goal by holding several events including silent auctions, raffles, and selling cakes.

But Gap Partners employees aren’t done yet—they are planning a fishing tournament, an employee evening at the local drive-in theater, and a cookout. The company will cover expenses; all proceeds will go to Relay for Life.

“We’ve been involved in this important cause for three years now. It’s near and dear to our hearts and we will continue doing it,” said Melissa Preslar, Gap Partners Inside Sales Manager.

Power Partners employees helped raise money for Relay for Life starting in 2003—that year the American Cancer Society in Athens designated Power Partners as its Rookie of the Year for its fundraising efforts.

Many different events contributed to this impressive total. Different teams at the company sold ice cream, cinnamon rolls, served breakfast, and held an annual golf tournament.

Another fundraising event for Relay for Life, Power Partners’ participated in an annual 5K Run/Walk on March 22 that was part of the Georgia Run & See Grand Prix and the Black Bag Race series. The race attracted runners from across Georgia and beyond.

ppi-relay-3The Dr. Sherrie Ford Memorial Invitational Golf Day is tied into PPI corporate’s annual Supplier of the Year day; this year the event was May 20. It continues to exceed all expectations, raising thousands of dollars each year since its inception.
